After my father passed away and the smoke cleared from the mess of settling his estate I came to a sobering reality: Most of my father’s dreams for giving back were left unrealized.

Like so many, he had out-grown his legal, tax and financial advisors leaving his dream financial contribution unrealized.  Giving back financially was more important to him than they every came to realize.  (And had they taken the time to get to know just how much giving back of his money and time mattered to him they would have come to that realization).

Who is Helping You Make Rain?

A group of farmers had a struggling crop and didn’t know what else they could do.

They recognized it was a drought, but what could they do about that… They didn’t know anything about rainmaking.

So they went on a quest to find rainmakers.  After investigating several Indian tribes, they heard of one tribe that had 100% rainmaking success.

The leader of the farmers asked the leader of this successful tribe, “What is it that makes your tribe such successful rainmakers?”

The tribal leader answered, “We dance till it rains.”

One obvious point from the story is that persistence pays off.  Maybe a not so obvious point comes from the viewpoint of the farmers.

Most often people think the answer to their challenge is a “what” question… “What is the tool, tactic or strategy I need to overcome my challenge?”

This group of farmers realizing rainmaking was not their specialty, there challenge would be solved not by a “what” question, but by a “WHO” question… “Who is the right person that can lead us forward?”

Challenges in your personal, business, and financial situations are solved BEST not by asking “what”you need to do next, but “WHO” is the best person to lead you forward to your bigger better future.
