You Don’t Need a Time Machine

In the 1980s classic film, Back to the Future, Marty McFly (played by Michael J. Fox) gets the rare opportunity to see what life was like back in 1955. unnamed (4)Compared to today, it certainly seems like a simpler time. There were no reality TV shows, no Internet, no coffee pods, and the media wasn’t present in every single aspect of our lives, warning us of imminent danger ahead for our kids, for our money, and for our very futures.

There are many people who think, “Why couldn’t I have lived back in simpler times? Why do I have to live waiting for the next big economic crash?” This type of thinking doesn’t do anybody any good. Instead, consider this: You were born and are living in the precise time you are supposed to be living.

You were born to live right now; it was no accident. Every decade and every generation has its struggles (the families in the 1950s had just survived another World War, after all). We cannot succumb to the pressures of wanting to relive the “good ole days.”

If, today, you have accumulated means beyond what you need for survival, is it all for nothing? Or do you have the wealth you have at just the right time when:

  • There are people to help.
  • There are problems to solve in society.
  • There are opportunities to set relationships right.

Do you sense there are opportunities to seize or problems to solve with your wealth? If you don’t do those things, will you feel you’ve missed your calling or purpose in life, or maybe you’re just living in the wrong day and age to do any good?

You are in a place of influence both within your own family and outside of it; and it’s up to you to make the most of that influence—and make the most of the present.

Wealth is more than money. Don’t just plan for your future, live it right now. Pass it on and share the insights like this that you find valuable.
